about me

Jude and Rachel at the Firetruck

I’m Rachel Shingleton, and I’ve never met a color that I didn’t like. I’m hot momma to Jude, happy wife to Simon, and a graphic designer, to boot. Pencil Shavings is my virtual sketchbook, a melange of images, inspiration, projects old and new, and any other little pretties that cross my path.

July 30, 2005

I grew up in Oklahoma City, and headed off to California to attend Pepperdine University, only to return to finish up at the University of Oklahoma with a BFA in visual communications. In the middle of all that, I studied in France with the Sorbonne, Paris American Academy, and Parsons School of Design. I married my best friend Simon in 2005 and we have a son, Jude, who keeps us laughing.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey Rachel and Simon, this is Amanda…a nurse from Baptist that took care of Jude on nights a lot! So so nice of you both to send us an update on him! He looks like he is doing fantastic! And I see you are keeping up with him 🙂 I love the site and the card you sent…very cute! Keep us updated on how things are going with you all…it’s so nice to follow up with our former premies! Have a great Thanksgiving!

    Hi Rachel,
I’m tickled I could be the catalyst in obtaining the long coveted Seabury! I can’t wait to see how it looks in your fabulous pad!

Hey! Nice to meet you! I’m not sure how I actually found your blog or when I linked you, but I do think it’s great. I’m also from Oklahoma City, but have been in NY for the past five years. What a small-big-internet world huh? Anyway, great meeting you. I’ll have to subscribe and follow what you write!
